Some Smarter Menu Choices
Check out www.healthydiningfinder.com for a searchable database of some healthier restaurant dishes at more than 30,000 locations. Nutrition professionals consult with participating restaurants to find menu items that meet the recommendations of leading health organizations. (For example, entrées must contain no more than 750 calories, 25 grams of fat, and 8 grams of saturated fat.) Restaurants pay a fee to participate and have menu choices reviewed before they are posted on the Web site. Just because a restaurant is not listed doesn't mean it doesn't offer healthy options--simply call ahead and ask about healthy fare before you dine.
