Healthified Salsa-Beef Chili

Healthified Salsa-Beef Chili
Recipe Tip
What is "Healthified"?
We've replaced ingredients with great-tasting alternatives to create better-for-you recipes that are just as yummy as the originals.
Simplify
Get every ounce of flavor from the tomato sauce by rinsing any remaining sauce from the can with the 1/2 cup water.
Substitution
Try using another type of bean instead of kidney or black beans. Black-eyed peas or pinto beans are a nice change.
Serving Suggestion
Serve with a variety of toppings, such as shredded reduced-fat Cheddar cheese or chopped cilantro.

High marks all around - and easy
My friends really liked this chili. I doubled the recipe and used chili beans instead of kidney beans, plus I threw in some spare portabella mushrooms.

Okay, but I like my chili meatier, an extra 1/2 lb of ground turkey may help.

Great for Company
I have made this a few times and it has been a big hit. I use ground turkey instead of beef. Also instead of water I add a 1/2 c of dark beer.

wonderful!!!
i love chili but never made it before. the recipe is easy enough so i made my 13 yo daughter make it (with a little assistance). it was a big hit at dinner. we added all the extras- cilantro, green onion, tobassco sauce, chips, cheese, sour cream etc. on the side. it has made it into the dinner rotation.

Salsa-Beef Chili
I tried this recipe last night.. It was AMAZING! I let it sit in the crock pot all day while I was at work...and when I got home it was perfect! My boyfriend added some other seasoning to it (I forget what kind), and it was really good. I added sour cream and cheese like it said in the recipe, and also crushed chips. It was super easy to make also!!! I will definetly try this again!! :)

Some Substitutions
I loved this recipe! However, I did make some changes... Instead of using two of the cans of diced tomatoes I put in one and one can of Ro-Tel and about a tablespoon and a half of jalapeños... I like my chili spicy so this was a perfect combination with the already existing ingredients. It wasn't too overwhelming. Enjoy!

For more flavor,,,
For more flavor, add about 1/2 a packet of taco seasoning...it is amazing! The recipe just seemed to be missing something, and after adding this, it was PERFECT!

Great Recipe!
We just had this for dinner. It was not only easy to make, but tasted really good. I made homemade cornbread with it, and my husband and I both agreed it's a keeper!

Great Chilli Recipe!
I tried this recipe today and was very happy with the results. All of the ingredients are fairly common and the recipe was super easy to whip together. I was a little worried it might taste bland, but it was very good. I used Medium Pace Salsa. Try this one!

Salsa Beef Chili
I made this recipe last weekend and it was delicious. Very rich and hearty! I loved the fact that I was able to sneak black beans into my husbands diet and he didn't even notice! He usually refuses to eat them. HA HA! I used Herdez Salsa which is usually found in the Mexican Foods section. It was a very good recipe. Try it! You'll like it!
