Add an Italian twist to this slow-cooked beef pot roast with porcini mushrooms and oregano - perfect for dinner. From eatbetteramerica.

makes:8 servings
1package (1 oz) dried porcini mushrooms
1cup hot water
2cloves garlic, finely chopped
1tablespoon grated lemon peel
1teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1/2teaspoon salt
1boneless beef rump roast (2 1/2 lb), trimmed of fat
1can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
1cup frozen small whole onions (from 1-lb bag), thawed
1/2cup dry red wine or Progresso® beef flavored broth (from 32-oz carton)
1.In small bowl, place mushrooms and hot water; let stand 10 minutes.
2.Meanwhile, spray 4- to 5-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In small bowl, mix garlic, lemon peel, oregano and salt. Rub mixture over beef; place in cooker.
3.Drain mushrooms; coarsely chop. Top beef with mushrooms, tomatoes, thawed onions and wine.
4.Cover; cook on Low heat setting 8 to 9 hours.
5.Remove beef from cooker; place on cutting board. Cover; let stand 10 minutes. Cut beef into 8 serving pieces; serve with tomato mixture.

this was so good that i had to hide some away for myself to eat. the aroma just fill the room. everyone was salavating.

Not good
This recipe did not work at all. The meat had such a weird, bad taste we had to throw the whole thing away. The meat is marinating in just the diced tomatoes and the frozen onions, which gave it a really gross taste. I would never cook this again.

Scrumptious!!
This was delicious, my whole family loved it. I served it with mashed potatoes but next time we will have it with rice. The gravy is so flavorful and the lemon give a special little zip.
