Pork Chops and Apples (Cooking for 2)

Pork Chops and Apples (Cooking for 2)
Recipe Tip
Pile on the Pork
Pork loin is a lean protein choice. Protein supplies amino acids that give structure to the body in skin, cell membranes and muscles.
Lean chops and apples baked in one dish to serve two. All you need is a mixed green salad. From eatbetteramerica.
Prep Time:20 min
Start to Finish:1 hr 5 min
makes:2 servings

1medium unpeeled cooking apple, sliced
2tablespoons packed brown sugar
1/4teaspoon ground cinnamon
2pork rib chops, 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick (about 1/4 lb each)
1.Heat oven to 350°F. Place apples in ungreased 1 1/2-quart casserole. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
2.Remove fat from pork. Spray 8- or 10-inch skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium heat 1 to 2 minutes. Cook pork in hot skillet about 5 minutes, turning once, until light brown. Place pork in single layer on apples.
3.Cover; bake about 45 minutes or until pork is no longer pink in center and apples are tender.

Pork Chops and Apples Review
Quick and easy fall recipe. The apples were delicious but chops bland. Next time I would add some spices to the meat. Will definetely prepare again!

I made this and added fresh cherries. Served over stove top pork stuffing with juice and fruit over it. Was very good, will be my new pork dish.

Good Recipe
I've been making a version of this for years. I usually simmer the pork chops in apple butter thinned with water to add flavor to the pork and it keeps the pork from drying out and I cook the apples on top of the pork.

pork chops and apples
This recipe was extremely easy and very flavorful. Even my fussy teenager loved it. Didn't hurt that it was low calorie also.

This recipe is great! All 3 of my kids ask for it! I used a pork tenderloin last time I made it and the pork was very juicy!

Great recipe! Will make it again. I loved the fact it was low in calories. The porkchop was slightly dry, but with a little tweeking on the baking time will probably help. The apples were delicious!

Wasn't to sure about this recipe at first since it only calls for three ingredients but it turned out great. This may become my favorite recipe since it was so quick and easy and full of flavor. You should definately give this one a try you will be surprised.

Has potential...
I tried this recipe, and even went the extra mile and added an allspice, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon rub to the chops just before grilling them. I then added the same spices to the brown sugar/cinnamon mix in the pan. When all was said & done, the spices just didn't come through strongly enough for my liking. Even more disappointing was that at 45 minutes, the chops were waaayyyy too done for my liking. Overall, I'll try this recipe again, but add the rub a few hours in advance, and start checking the chops at about 25 minutes so I catch them when they're at medium doneness.

Easy and delicious!
This recipe was SO easy to make, and it only takes 4 ingredients! What could be better? The apples were so delicious that my husband was asking if there were more. Also, it didn't seem like much food but it was really filling!

YUM YUM YUM
My husband was hesitant to try meat with apples. But once he did he LOVED it. My 2 year old cleared his plate! Will make again and again! I even tripled the recipe for a dinner party the other night and it came out great!

Delicious!
I'm not a huge pork fan, but my husband was getting a bit tired of chicken, so I thought I'd give pork a shot. I thought I had brown sugar but I didn't, so I had to substitute with sucanat cane sugar and a bit of honey and it was still delicious! Best pork recipe I've ever tried.

This is a quick and easy recipe -- if you get lean pork, it's a healthy entree. I did not have brown sugar (thought I did), so I used some maple syrup instead. Very yummy! The apples, with the peels kept on, provide some good fiber. Have some green beans wit this and you'll get two servings of fruits and vegetables along with some protein.
