teaspoon ground mustard

medium green onions, sliced (1/4 cup)

cup shredded reduced-fat Cheddar cheese (2 ounces)

cup buttermilk

tablespoons canola or vegetable oil
  • 1 Heat oven to 450°. Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda and mustard in medium bowl. Stir in onions and cheese.
  • 2 Mix buttermilk and oil; stir into flour mixture until soft dough forms. Drop dough by 8 spoonfuls onto cookie sheet.
  • 3 Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Expert Tips

You wouldn't know by the name, but buttermilk contains no butter and has very little fat. Buttermilk is a calcium-rich, refreshing beverage. It also adds tang and a wonderful dairy flavor to salad dressings, dips and baked goods.
