Simple moves may help lessen aches and pains and more.
Fibromyalgia can be a mystery. Medical professionals don’t know the exact causes of this condition. And often doctors may be equally puzzled about treatments. Some affected by the condition believe activity may worsen their symptoms.
However, new research from a Harvard Medical School study of 207 women (ages 18 to 75) who were receiving medication found that low-impact exercise may help relieve the aches and pains, fatigue, and depression associated with fibromyalgia. Researchers found all participants reported benefits from exercising, such as walking, strength training, and stretching, that lasted at least six months. The benefits were enhanced when combined with a self-management education program.
