Many Sports Bras Lack the Support You Deserve

Find out why some styles don’t measure up.
Let’s face it, we women could use a better sports bra. A female researcher at the University of Portsmouth tested 70 women as they jogged and ran on treadmills, and found that most women’s chests weren’t being supported properly by traditional sports bras.

While it’s hopeful that athletic companies will one day use this research to create bras with the right support, the best option for now is an encapsulation bra. These bras mold around each breast and substantially reduce movement compared with more traditional shelf-style compression bras. These findings pertain to all breast sizes and levels of activity.

Invest in a good sports bra
I'm a personal trainer and fitness instructor and one of the most asked questions for me is "What kind of sports bra do you recommend?" Most women have no idea what a sports bra should do, how it should fit, or where to find one of good quality. Ladies, please don't work out in your normal bra! I see this so often! If you're working out hard enough to break a sweat, you need a good sports bra that supports you! I personally love the Shock Absorber brand that Victoria's Secret carries. Yes, they are more expensive but this is a sacrifice that's worth it's weight in gold... literally! Champion also makes a great sports bra called C9 that's carried at Target. Try them on before you buy. Jump up and down in the fitting room and see what happens. Don't settle for a bra that's too stretchy or flimsy. And when you've worn it enough times that the elastic is shot and the support is gone, throw it away and get a replacement. I promise, you'll feel better and be able to work out harder with the right sports bra!

I completely agree!!!
I asked my sports bras to support me in my physical activities, but they all let me down! LOL! I really hope this research goes to the people that design our future bras. There are two encapsulating bras that I use: Moving Comfort Fiona bra, and Champion Double Dry Seamless Underwire...both give the support I need...almost like duct tape!
