    In home made wholemeal bread-this way I can add all the fibre and nuts and fruit needed daily.It really works and I never have any bowel problems since I used this recipe(An old Irish one)

    In whole wheat foods, and if that isn't enough I get mine from all natural Fiber like: Metamucil whenever necesary. A person can take it up to 3 X per day as needed. It is found over the counter.

    Oatmeal for breakfast most mornings....adding 1/4 cup raisins, cranberries or blueberries. I find that I even enjoy it cold lately.....so creamy.....zap it in the mirowave just 1 minute at a time, stirring with a 2 minute total....it seems to stay with me for at least 4 hours while at work.....then it is bagel time or english muffin......orange, apple or banana break too!.....I just look at life ONE DAY AT A TIME.

    I could only vote once so I voted for whole grain products but I also get a lot of fiber from vegetables like peas, broccoli and the like.  There is a recipe on this site that I think is still here for Honey Whole Wheat bread ....FANTABULOUS RECIPE! Loaded with fiber too :)

    I try to aim for at least 40 g of fiber a day. A typical day for fiber intake for me goes:


    1/2 cup fiber one original= 14 g


    1/2 cup fiber one honey c=6.5 g


    2 slices of diet multigrain bread=4 g


    1 la tortilla factory tortilla =12 g


    1 mini bag of 94 % ff popcorn =4 g


    1 medium apple=4 g


    approx daily intake=44.5 g

    Thanks for the great ideas, but where did you get your recommendation on the amount of fiber you should consume each day?  Everything  I've read puts it at between 21 and 30 grams per day, with about 25 being optimal for women.  But I guess if you go at it in an incremental increase and watch which kind of fiber you are getting, soluable or insoluable and in what proportions, and taking in a lot of fluids...  Oh, and the American Dieteic Association said that the intake of over 50 to 60 grams of fiber can block the absorption of some nutrients...aaarrrggghhh!  I guess I need to keep checking this out before I go much beyond 25 to 30gm on a daily basis.  Thanks for your list, though.

    Me too, I love to make bread, and just finished making a wholwheat/Graham wheat loaf this past weekend. It turned out great!  Great way to get fiber.

    Apples, grapefruit, salads and whole grains breads and cereals.  Wink

    I actually try to get fiber from all areas, but fruit is my favorite!  But even with that, adding supplements, is necessary at times.  The more you experiment with recipes the better you can add fiber to your diet.
