New Attitude - need buddy to keep motivated

Hello! I recently went to the dentist and found out that all of my teeth were pretty much bad and have a long line of appointments to get back on track. I think that is what triggered the 'look' at myself. I am overweight and have low self esteem, but you wouldn't know it by looking or talking to me. I am the one that makes everyone laugh and feel good about themselves. I am great at solving every one ELSE'S problems but when it comes to myself, yeah that's a laugh.

I too want a computer buddy on the new trek to overhaul my life and my body. First thing first is to 'get healthy'. My motivation wanes after a couple of days. I have friends that say they will help me keep motivated but they tend to forget.

So if someone has 5 minutes out of their day to remember to keep my butt in line, that would be great. I live in the MN area.

    Thanks!!

    Chuckles

     Chuckles,

How are you? I just decided to get myself back on track to a healthier life... I would like to offer my support if you would accept. Maybe we can both keep eachother on check...

    Take Care.

I could use some motivation myself.  I'm not real overweight, but it's gotten to where my clothes are not fitting anymore.  I refuse to buy another set of clothes, and the only reason I need to is because I am being lazy.  I have for years on end exercised 4-5 days a week....and for some reason, just can't get back on it for more than a year now.  I'm getting highly fatigued, my clothes don't fit, my face is getting fat and it's time to get started again.  I would love to help with the motivation for others, with the same in return.  I know I need help with it, if you would like some too, sounds great.

Hello Chuckles.....I am very similiar to your description above. (My nickname is giggles!) I too am over weight and in need of motivation. I am usually on the computer daily and would love a motivational buddy.

So, just to get this started: today I took my multi-vitamin, I had my tuna and salad for lunch, and after work I am headed to the gym (my water bottle and after workout snack-an apple-are packed and ready to go) I will check in tomorrow.

Chuckles, good for you for starting to bend some of that remarkable energy that you have for others back towards yourself.  Oral health care is extremely important, and it is just like dieting - one step at a time.  A good dentist will work slowly within your time line/budget and will have the sensitivity it takes to make you feel comfortable about your circumstances throughout your entire dental plan.  Great step in the right direction!

I too have supported others until it becomes my overwhelming mission in life!  It often seems like it is one technique that I use so as not deal with my own "stuff."   I was/am a tipical co-dependent.  I struggle with that balance on a daily basis along with letting go of some of this extra weight that I have accumulated throughout the past two decades.  I would be interested in being a support person for each other as we navigate back to health and healthy behaviors.  La Vida!

Hang in there and remember to love your self.  Do it for yourself and stop caring about what others think.  I've been there and struggle with certain self esteem issues.  One thing I have learned is at the end of the day I answer to myself and if I worry about what others think all the time I would get absolutley nowhere fast.  Get that monkey off you back.  You can do it.  Be consistant and understand that we are not perfect but aim high.  Will check in on you from time to time.  Very busy but I wish you the best!

Smiling all the way- you can take the initiative towards the way of eating right and treating yourself right. I am 50 years old and still feel young and fit. You must try to keep up first the idea that you and only you know you have will of your own. Sometimes it is easier to slam down that big bowl of crap and feel no remorse or sometimes you make an excuse that things aren't worth changing. Eventually your heart says enough. Plan one thing to better your eating habits and stick to it for a week like eating extra fresh foods not junk foods. I am going to get more vegetables myself. I recently since february gained 5 to 6 pounds. Usually I gain them in the holidays but I am lazier this month. I am starting right now to increase my exercise from 3 times a week to 4 times.  You need to make progress to see progress . In other words, no pain, no gain. I did sit-ups( and still do) everyday for years. I increase from 100 to 200 per day after a year and dropped from a27" waist to a 23 and !/2"  Keep into whatever you choose until you bore with it and then pick something else more challenging. Good Luck

Would love to "buddy up"  with someone!  I too have lost motivation.  I lost 50 lbs., and have gained back 10.  I am so scared!  Can't seem to get a grip with all the bad stuff in my life right now.  Maybe we can motivate each other.  Nina: Your word hit home with me about only answering to yourself at end of day!  Thanks for taking the time to post.  Sunluvv

I'm in the same boat.  I started on my teeth two years ago, paid a fortune for laser gum surgery and it made matters worse.  When is your next appointment?  Do you watch the biggest loser?  That's what prompted me to look at myself and my health.
