I live in a second floor apartment and have a tight budget. Buying any kind of equipment is impossible and I really don't have the space for it. So what kind of exercizes can I do that won't bother the neighbors?

A  Walk Away the Pounds DVD woud be awesome in your situation.  Laps on the stairs.  Nothing major, but if you can go up 10 times and down 10 times, anything above your normal activity counts.

I just started doing Leslie Sansone's Walk Slim DVDS-I'm enjoying-I think it would be quiet enough for neighbors-doesn't require too much space either.  I bought the whole 5dvd set at qvc for some variety.  Good Luck!

Try some exercise bands. They are inexpensive, easy to store, and you can get a full body work out. They all come with instructions for the different exercises you can do, and the bands also come in different intensity sizes.

Hello, my name is cynthia. Walking...Nothing to buy...Park farther away when you go places, go to a mall and just walk. when you drive into the parking lot of your apartment building, look at the odometer to see what the distance of you parking spot is to the from door. walk up and down the halls of the building, and if you do laundry in the basement or a lower floor try doing some thing down stairs. If you can find a spare $ at Walmart they have those pedimeters that count your steps. the goal of 10,000 steps a day isn't impossible. If you can get one they become addictive. I started taking my 3 year old to the mall just to put on extra steps on my pedimeter. I average 9,000 steps a day because I clean houses for myself and I work 40 hours a week....I was suprised that I could rack up so many steps...Oh! Yea if you watch a lot of television then fill up 2 empty milk jugs with water and start lifting them, would you beleive they weigh 8 lbs. each!!! Funny huh!!! Start carrying them when you walk up and down the stairs. Just try to not worry about the neighbors, be polite still but if your bugging someone they will let you know...best of luck!!! Cynthia

I totally agree about the Walk Away the POunds dvd. Its by Leslie Sansone. You can start out at 2 mile and work up to 4. And even the 4 miles only takes an hour. Its 4 basic walking steps and takes up little space in your room. Nights where I think I will only do 1 mile I end up doing at least 3 because the 1 mile is done in no time! I bought mine at WalMart for about $12-$ 15 I think. AND it comes with a stretchy band for part of the  3rd mile.

Good luck ! keep us posted.

Exercize balls are great for working out without bothering neighbors. Mine came with a poster for different exercizes to do with it. Also you can get some ankle weights at WalMart for relatively cheap. These help turn walking into a more effective workout.

    Good Luck

I've been doing this ten minute workout DVD for a long time and the pilates section is very quiet. It's not the type of pilates you do with machines, you can do it right in your house on the rug. I'm sure, although I havn't tried, that it would be even more beneficial if you were to carry weights while you did it.
