Hello I am 30 and 5' feet tall i am about 40 lbs over where is should be. I have been yo-ing since age 20.  I finally had a reality check when i purchase a full lenght mirror.  So i brought a treadmill in Nov and have been doing it faithfully every other day (about 35-40) minutes each time. I have recently began to eat better, but i want to see results.  Should i be doing some type of strenght training? If so what type i really need to loss my middle section.

OH YES.  YOU NEED TO TONE UP MUSCLES AND GET THINGS LOOKING LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSE TOO.

I AM JUST SOMEONE SAYING THAT THIS WORKED FOR ME, BUT THE SLIM IN 6 SERIES WORKED FOR ME.  I SAW IT ON AN INFOMERCIAL ONE NIGHT WHEN I WAS DOING ONE OF MY OVERNIGHTS.  WELL NEEDLESS TO SAY I BOUGHT IT AND DID IT LIKE IT SAID FOR THE 6 WEEKS(I DIDN'T PURCHEASE ANYTHING ELSE JUST THE DVD AND BAND) AND IT WORKS.

I LOST A TOTAL OF 16 INCHES FROM AROUND MY BODY IN THE 6 WEEKS.  I MEASURED MYSELF BEFORE I STARTED AND WHEN I WAS DONE, I WAS AMAZED AT THE DIFFERENCE.  I THINK THERE IS A WEBSITE, BUT I HAVE LOST THE NUMBER.

YOU NEED TO START TONING UP THE MUSCLES AND YOU WILL BURN MORE FAT.  THE MUSCLES NEED MORE CALS AND THEY GET THAT FROM THE FAT.  THERE IS EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN THESE VIDEOS. ONE FOR ABS, CARDIO, FLEXABILITY, THIGHS.

Congrats for starting your healthier lifestyle.

    Check out Dr Oz. http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/thinking-yourself-thin

Another article of his said you do need to add strength training or you will plateau in weight loss.

The treadmill is the best way to see faster results. However, working out doesn't mean you get to eat more. It means you have to eat smarter. Stay away from the white foods. White bread, white rice, potatoes, etc. Try whole wheat pastas, whole wheat bread (Check the ingredient list, it must say "Whole Wheat" not enriched white flour. It should be the 1st ingredient. ). Try brown rice instead of white. Stay away from sugar.  Look at the ingredients on items. Low fat items usually crank up the sugar to make them taste good. I can't stress enough how much you need to look at food labels.  Make sure to get your veggies in.

Another tip is to watch your portion size. And eat many smaller meals. I eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, then dinner. Eat high fiber, it will keep you fuller longer. But watch those labels and try to keep the sugar low!

I love Dr Oz. I saw a tip on his show the other day that has been working for me. When you are craving sweets, eat a tic tac or two. It fools your body into thinking you got what it wanted. I loaded up on them. They are in my purse, home, work. I haven't had chocolate in days! That's unbelievable in my book.

Best of luck on your new life and don't be disappointed if things start slow. Today you are healthier than you were yesterday. Big Smile You will get there!

Maybe you all can help me get over this hump. I ate half a pizza yesterday for supper and I am trying so hard today to eat healthy. But I feel depressed and worry that I won't make it to my weight loss goal of 50 lbs. by June. I'm 50 years old and have got to get this weight off. I have high cholesterol, a bad back, and if I exercise too rigorously I get joint pain, so I'm trying to do it slow and steady. The first week I lost 5 lbs., the next week I lost 2, but now I seem to be stuck, and wanting to binge at night. Help. I'll take all suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Dee

DON'T WORRY, I HAVE BEEN STUK AT 166 FOR A MONTH.  TRUST ME JUST KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING AND IT WILL SHOW UP.

A FRIEND OF MINE WHO LOST 140 POUNDS SAID THAT WHEN SHE GOT TO A DREADED PLATUE, SHE ATE NOTHING BUT PROTEIN.  THAT SHE SAID KICKED SOMETHING IN THAT MADE HER START LOSING WEIGHT AGAIN.  I DIDN TRY IT AND IT DOES WORK.

    Dee,

Don't beat yourself up because you didn't eat as healthy as you would have liked. You'll only make yourself more depressed and then eat more things you shouldn't. Acknowledge you didn't eat as well as you liked and move on. Don't dwell. I also think you are putting a lot of pressure on yourself by focusing on 50lb loss by June. I'm not saying you shouldn't loose weight. I'm saying you are focusing on the wrong thing. Focus on staying active, eating healthy, lowering your cholesterol and pain relief on your back from not carrying as much weight. The weight loss comes as a bonus. Set small short term goals to help you reach your big goal of 50lb weight loss. Such as, I will reduce my sugar intake today. I will eat green veggies for dinner 3 nights this week. I will not skip breakfast this week. I will find a new healthy receipe to try this week. As you keep a list of your short goals and check them off, it will help you to set bigger goals and achieve them, and ultimately your 50 lb weight loss goal.  Plus reaching those small goals helps your self-esteem and depression. Makes you want to accomplish more, and you will.

    Good Luck.

Yes you can still make it to your goal!  I lost 40 pounds in 3 months!  My parents are on the same program and showed me up - 62 years old each and 50 pounds in 3 month!  They both dropped medications...including my fathers diabetes meds and his cholesteral was cut in half in less than 2 months!  His diabetes are now controlled with diet and off ALL medications

It is so easy to do and because its healthy and it balances your body and blood sugars...you lessen or have no cravings! Its the only way I could have succeeded!  Oh...Dee...this program can work for you too (Its DR RECOMMENDED too)!!!  Don't give up hope - it was a blessing for me to see your post.  I am just a newbie to this site and I was clicking around.  I would love to share my story with you - feel free to email me anytime - **********************
