It was hit or miss after I had mine removed in November.  Things I thought would upset my stomach didn't, and things I never thought of did.  Eggs kill me... even still.  Salads bloat me really bad.  Pulled pork is one of my favorite things, but now I can only eat if I'm positive a bathroom will be close by.  Of course, stay away from overly fatty and greasy things (probably the same things that triggered your gall stones... if you had them.)  I just stayed away from anything too fancy... stuck to simple things like cereal and toast, or simply seasoned chicken breast.  You'll just have to test your favorites out to see how you react to them.  Trust me, if you eat something that will upset your stomach, you'll know it within minutes.

Stay away from fatty foods.  My sister and I have been cooking for my dad who has a bad gallbladder that cannot be removed because of his age.  My mom had her gallbladder removed and never took care of her diet and continued to have pain.  They are on a zero fat (as close to zero as possible) diet.  Use cooking sprays that have 0g of fat and the meat lowest in fat is chicken and the fish lowest in fat is orange roughy.  Try to balance your meals with lots of carbs, protein, and fiber.  Veggies and pastas are great side dishes.  Just keep an eye on your fat intake. Read every nutrition label before you purchase.  We are going nuts trying to be creative with his meals.  It is truly a challenge!  Good luck.

Hi - just read your post

My 16 year old son just had his gallbladder removed last Monday.

Do you know if the body ever adjusts to not having the gallbaldder and makes eating normally alittle easier?

eating is different for each person....May 08 my husband had his removed...and all fats bothered him...and some veggies...like broccoli and asparagus, of which he loves both...it took over a year for things to finally get back to normal...he now eats whatever he wants...pimento cheese spread, broccoli, asparagus and most fats...once in awhile he gets achy again....and knows he needs to back off of fats....

so give it time and add things back into your diet slowly....

Start out slowly.  Eat only low fat for at least a month after surgery.  My surgery was about 5 years ago.  I made myself sick by eating fats too soon.  That is miserable.  Make sure you go slow and take your time.  Eat base foods that are simple.  Veggies and fruits and whole grains.  You can add in some fats after about a month, but I wouldn't eat a meal with more than 10 grams of fat.  Your best bet is to see your doctor or a dietician to assess your situation.  But, be warned, that if you jump into high fat foods too soon, you will regret it.

Now, I can eat pretty much anything, but anything with high fat content goes right through me, so it is not worth it to me.

You will feel normal soon.  Just hang in there.

i would ask  my  dr for advice but  i when i had mine removed  he just told me to take it  easy with fatty food  which i didn't eat much anyways and of course  and  if ther was something that bothered me  before that  i  slowly took my  time   introducing that  certain food into my  daily diet , but mainly you should  go  easy in the beginning.

    Hi

I had the same surgery a long time ago and I am very happy to tell you that now I am able to eat salads and most any thing i want.  The main thing is listen to what your body tells you.  If you are a salad and vegie lover like I am Just give it time and I bet you will once again be able to enjoy all the good vegies again.  Oh I even eat corn on the cob again which my drs. said I could never do again  lol

I had mine removed 2 years ago.  I have no trouble eating anything but I have to admit that I do eat a pretty healthy and balanced diet.  I never even have to think about what I eat because I have no trouble at all.  Like everything...diet in moderation serves us well.
