Honestly you don't want to eat low-fat foods. Our body needs fat to survive. Our cells and brains are made up of fats. You need healthy fats to raise your metabolism. Eating food with fats in it will not cause you to gain weight. Eating a high carbohydrate diet causes you to gain weight. One needs to find a balance of Fats, proteins and carbohydrates to increase and maintain metabolism. There are unhealthy fats however, anything with trans-fats should be avoided these will interfere with good metabolism. Unhealthy fats are fats that are man made and processed fats such as partially- hydrogenated and hydrogenated oils. Avoid these at all cost. Check your labels for them. To loose weight you need to watch for things with high sugar content, things that have high fructose corn syrup or sugar as their main ingredient. Try to eat foods that your great grand mother would have eaten. some sources of good fat are olive oil, real butter, avocados, nuts, sesame seeds, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, safflower mayonnaise (unrefined), real Whipping cream (not cool whip!) Coconut oil, palm oil, lard and Tallow. The body makes fat from carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are broken down in to glucose (sugar) in our body. This raises the blood sugar. Animal protein eaten thought the day increases metabolism and decreases cravings. For lowing cholesterol, the same things go. Eating the good fats will help your body to produce good cholesterol. Also taking a supplement of high quality fish oil can help. Something to keep in mind when looking at a food label: 4 grams of carbs is equal to 1 teaspoon of sugar. Please look into seeing a nutritionist they can give great advice!
