The holidays are behind us and a brand new year awaits. Clean slate. Inviting. I love this time of the year! So much possibility lies ahead. It is a time to start fresh and think about what I want to accomplish for the year. I have never really been big on official New Year’s resolutions, but I do my own goal setting and ponder changes I would like to see in the year to come.
Last year I set a resolution/goal to start a gratitude journal. I want to be more conscious of those things in life that make me happy. At the end of every day I write down a few things that I am thankful for. Sometimes it is something simple like hitting all the green lights on the way to work when I am running late. Or sometimes it is more profound like finding my wonderful husband to spend my life with.
I have been most successful in achieving the goals I set when I make a defined plan of action. For example, instead of just saying, “I want to lose weight,” try putting together a specific plan for how you are going to do it. I like to focus on the journey instead of just reaching for the destination.
