Miriam E. Nelson, Ph.D Responds:

Miriam E. Nelson, PhD, of Tufts University and the best-selling author of the Strong Women book series, responds: The best approach to fitting in healthy eating and plenty of exercise are the two Ps: preparation and planning. First, establish a menu for the upcoming week, and buy for those meals and snacks. Choose two prep days during the week that are far apart--Sunday and Wednesday, for example. Chop veggies and fruits, and package them for upcoming days. Prepare sandwiches ahead of time, and leave the condiments on the side or at the workplace. Prepare soups, stews, and casseroles in advance so they can be heated up easily for dinner, and opt for prewashed, bagged veggies, such as salad greens and carrots, to help ensure that you don't fall short of vegetables.

Plan ahead for exercise: Split your 60 minutes of daily exercise into shorter spans throughout the day, park away from your destination, take the stairs, carry your own groceries. Then try to carve out at least 20 minutes three days per week for more vigorous activity
