If I use organic ingredients, would it change the calories, amount of carbs, or fat?

Question.
Cindy Moore, MS, RD Responds:

Organic foods have the same amount of calories, carbohydrates, protein, and fat as their nonorganic counterparts. The major difference is that organic foods are produced without pesticides, fertilizers, antibiotics, synthetic hormones, genetic engineering, and other contaminants such as irradiation and sewage sludge.

You’ll find organic foods in every category these days. You can buy organic fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meats, poultry, alcoholic beverages, pastas, chocolate, spices, and much more.

If you want to eat organically produced foods more often but can’t afford to make a complete switch, start in the produce aisle with foods that generally are exposed to pesticides, such as berries, peaches, carrots, and peppers. They tend to have more pesticide residues than foods that you peel or skin, such as citrus fruits, bananas, and squash.
